Lia Washington
My name is Lia Washington, and I am running for ASUCD Senate to advance access, transparency, and equity across UC Davis.
I believe access to campus resources should be straightforward and student-centered. Programs like CalFresh, emergency grants, housing assistance, and scholarships make a meaningful difference in students’ ability to stay enrolled and succeed, yet they can still be difficult to navigate. I will advocate for stronger guidance and outreach so students receive clear information about the support available to them and how to access it.
Transparency is essential to building trust between students and their representatives. Students should be able to easily see how decisions are made and how their fees are allocated. I support consistent livestreaming and archiving of Senate meetings with reliable audio and visuals so participation does not depend on being physically present. I will also advocate for clearer public reporting on ASUCD budgets , spending and for accessible guides that help students understand how ASUCD works and how they can get involved. For students to feel empowered to participate they must have the knowledge to do so.
Lastly, equity must remain a priority in student government decision-making. I will advocate for policies and funding that support diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus programming and student organizations. Student government should also respond thoughtfully when state or national policy changes affect students’ safety, financial stability, or access to education. Strong representation means ensuring decisions reflect the needs of the full campus community.
I am running for ASUCD Senate to strengthen access to essential resources, increase transparency in student government, and protect equity across campus programs and organizations.
