I am running to promote basic needs access and equity, help strengthen the local art scene, and amplify all student voices. Adequate access to basic needs resources is crucial to student success, which is why I’ll do everything I can to expand basic needs access to all who need it. Students should be focused on academic and professional development, not on whether or not their basic needs are covered. This includes equitable access to menstrual and safer sex products and resources, such as increasing free menstrual dispensers, easier STD screenings, and promotion of advocacy resources around campus. To do this, I will work with underserved communities on campus to learn exactly what issues they are facing around basic needs access in order to successfully implement productive solutions.

Additionally, local arts and music is part of what makes our campus and community so great. I hope to promote student artists and musicians by giving them a platform and hosting events where they can reach a wider audience. This includes artists from all genres and backgrounds, and I hope to celebrate all the cultures and communities present on our campus through the arts. Increasing student opportunities to get involved in the arts is also a priority, as artistic expression and involvement is beneficial to both students as individuals and the community as a whole.

Students shouldn't be afraid to use their voices, especially when using it to speak out against the injustices they see. As a senator, I will be a bridge between student activists, community groups, and the administration in order to give students a platform to safely and efficiently amplify their voices. Further, I will be a voice to underserved communities on campus, such as commuters, transfers, international students, and identity based RSOs in order to increase awareness of the struggles they face and execute positive changes to benefit those groups. Many student groups already do important advocacy work, and I hope to be able to expand their platforms and enact campus wide change.

Student representatives should be a voice for students as a whole, and I believe my platform will help benefit all students. As a senator, I will work to obtain basic needs access to all those who need it, celebrate local artists and musicians, and use my platform to spotlight issues we face on campus. A vote for me is a vote for bettering the community, real change, and real results.
