Rosa Linda Martinez Ruano
¡Hola Aggies!
My name is Rosa Linda Martinez Ruano, and I’m beyond excited to run for ASUCD Senate this fall quarter. I’m a third-year, first-generation student double majoring in Sociology-Organizational Studies and Community & Regional Development.
A little about me, I’m originally from Guatemala, and I am proud of being a Latina immigrant. It has shaped my journey and my commitment to making sure every student feels a sense of belonging and safety. I believe in helping my community the same way I was supported when I needed it. I serve as the Internal Affairs Delegate for Las Raices Pre-Law Association, Community Development Director for CLCA, Administrative Coordinator for SOL y LUNA, Chair of the UndocuScholars Advocacy and Aid Committee within ASUCD, and Chief of Staff under Senator Garcia. These roles have helped me become a student leader that collaborates and works alongside other amazing student leaders that help build supportive spaces across campus.
As Chair of the UndocuScholars Advocacy and Aid (UAA) Committee, I’ve spent my time hosting events, organizing workshops, and showing up for students who need help. I have provided over 300+ students with various spaces to feel seen and heard, as well as assisted students with financial hardships through providing free caps and gowns for recent graduates. These experiences have taught me the real power of advocacy and community building.
I’m proud to be running with the UNIDAD Slate because I believe that real unity comes from celebrating every student’s story and backgrounds and contributions to our UC Davis community. UC Davis is a campus full with diversity, but too often smaller cultural and identity-based groups go unseen. As your Senator, I’ll fight to ensure every student feels both represented and celebrated.
If elected, here’s what you can count on:
1. One of my main priorities is supporting the undocumented students on campus by expanding academic mentorship, emergency grants, and safe-ally training across campus. Ensuring every undocumented Aggie has access to the resources, safety, and care they deserve from students, faculty, staff, and more.
2. I also want to focus on creating stronger collaboration initiatives among all student centers, Registered Student Organizations, and UC Davis faculty. It is important we all share our needs and our support with one another. I aim to keep connections and help everyone access grants for their events and projects. As well as creating quarterly meetings with all to share among each other our concerns and resources being provided.
3. I’ll fight for stronger programs, internships, and opportunities for first-generation, immigrant, and undocumented students.
4. I will constantly address the need for campus safety and wellness. I want every voice heard, every student protected and seen .
Your experiences matter, and together, we can create unidad at UC Davis. I’d be honored to have your #1 vote! ¡Muchas gracias!
Con mucho amor y apoyo,
Rosalinda M.R.
