Hey UC Davis!

My name is Caleb and I'm running to be a voice for you on the Senate Table. I am a second year, first-generation college student majoring in Economics and Political Science .

My Senate campaign is one built upon uplifting the voices of marginalized communities, advocating for resources useful to our student body, and building opportunities for all. I would like to take my work as the External Affairs Commission (EAC) Vice Chairperson and upscale it to the Senate table, ensuring that our fellow students feel safe, represented, and seen by ASUCD.

As the Vice Chairperson for EAC, I wrote bills to increase the representation of my community in ASUCD, assisted multiple different Senators in ASUCD on their events, created my own two-day event series centered in civic engagement and human rights awareness called Civic Voices, and relentlessly advocated for numerous marginalized communities on our campus, such as the Black, Palestinian, Iranian, and Latinx communities just to name a few. As your Senate representative, I would like to increase visibility, opportunities, engagement, and access on our campus.

My goals as Senator are as follows:

One of the biggest focuses of my campaign will be cultural engagement. The first thing I will bring to the senate table is advocacy: I will consistently advocate for marginalized communities on our campus, ensuring that they feel represented, safe, and content with the student body leadership. Whether this is through communication and building relationships with these communities, writing legislation to ensure they’re getting adequate resources, or simply fighting for them at every chance, I will be a voice for them.. Additionally, I will create events that highlight various cultures, to uplift our community. On top of this, I would like to continue my efforts of hosting events focused on civic engagement, as I hold this to be particularly relevant as we’re in a midterm election year. Now, it’s more important than ever to make sure our peers are civically aware and engaged.

I would also like to build upon the mental health infrastructure in ASUCD, specifically by creating a peer counseling program. This will create an environment for mental health awareness, counseling for students who need it, and professional development for students looking towards therapy and counseling as a future career. I would also like to work with The Pantry to ensure they’re consistently fully stocked through potential collaborations with different external organizations. On top of this, I will work with them to find a permanent solution to address the long lines often present outside of The Pantry. Food insecurity is another one of the largest issues our students face and The Pantry is one of the best resources when it comes to addressing this. Continuing to build upon its infrastructure is vital in ensuring our fellow students aren’t going hungry throughout their day.

With me on the table, I will ensure to work with and for the students to grant opportunities for all.

Vote Caleb #1 for ASUCD Senate!
