Nice to meet you, I’m Gabriela! I’m from Stockton, California, and athletics have always been a big part of my life. I swam competitively for 13 years, and now play club water polo here at UC Davis. Outside of school and sports, I enjoy cooking, practicing yoga, and spending time with my friends and family. I also have a dog named Troy, who I love talking about any chance I get. These experiences have shaped me into someone who values discipline, balance, and connection–qualities I bring into everything I do.

So why run for ASUCD? When I first came to Davis, I knew I wanted to get involved in a meaningful way. Throughout high school, I was deeply engaged in student government and hoped to continue that passion in college. In my senior year, I served as Speaker of the House in my AP Government class’s congressional simulation. Being chosen by my peers was an honor that came with real responsibility. I worked to foster collaboration across differing perspectives, helped revise amendments, and led efforts to pass legislation. Most importantly, I prioritized listening. I made sure every voice was heard, helping create an environment where we could find common ground and produce impactful solutions. Being a peacemaker and problem-solver is essential to who I am, whether in leadership roles or everyday life. As a member of ASUCD, I want to apply these same skills of teamwork and cooperation to help find common ground and participate in the enacting of transformative legislation.

What do I care about? You! Students just like me. While we all come from different backgrounds, we share common experiences, and my goal is to make student life more accessible and enjoyable. I’m passionate about promoting school spirit and creating more opportunities for social connection on campus. I also want to introduce a CoHo loyalty program that rewards students with points toward free items, helping ease the financial burden of everyday purchases. Additionally, I care about reducing food waste and supporting sustainability efforts across campus. Finally, I am committed to representing all students–from athletes to cultural communities. As a member of club water polo, I understand the importance of balancing academics, extracurriculars, and personal life, and I want to advocate for policies that reflect the diverse needs of our campus.
