Amadeusz Sanchez
As a Transfer Student, you shouldn’t feel like you showed up halfway through the college experience.
My name is Amadeusz Sanchez, and I am running to be your next Transfer Student Representative! I am a third year undergraduate transfer student majoring in Political Science, running to provide a transparent voice for Transfer, Reentry, Parent, and Veteran Students through the Office of Transfer Student Representative, groups it exists to represent.
Before transferring to UC Davis from De Anza College, I was involved in multiple on campus organizations, which inspired me to focus my studies on government and policy. At my CC, I was a founding member which revived our Model United Nations team, securing funding and support to send De Anza’s first delegation to a Nationwide event. Experiences like this have given me the skills to not only reform an organization, but to manage, and most of all, do the work that is needed to make ideas reality. Furthermore, I have continued to be active on-campus now at Davis through membership of multiple advocacy focused clubs.
My policy platform focuses on achievable goals, mainly to make the Transfer Experience as welcoming and smooth as possible for students. There must be a simpler and easier way to access the resources the OTSR offers. For example, there is no reason the website’s last article should be from 2022! As TSR, I will increase office hours and provide regular updates on what the Office is actually achieving for students.
I will establish regular surveys to get student feedback on what the Office should be prioritizing for students. I also believe in organizing more events, both social and professional, as events are integral to helping all students feel welcome at UC Davis. Transfer students especially should not feel like we showed up late to the college experience. The OTSR is often invisible to the student body, these initiatives change that!
Furthermore, I intend to use the role of TSR as a representative for ASUCD in discussions regarding Transfer Students in discussions with campus administration to fight for the Transfer student body. That voice not only is intended to represent the Transfer body, it is a lifeline for students to have their voices heard when the administration makes decisions impacting their college experience. I am proud to say that in budget discussions, my vote in the ASUCD Senate will never be used to cut the budgets of The Pantry, Unitrans, Bike Barn, HAUS, and all other basic needs services students rely on.
I have the drive, and the vision, to do the work needed to transparently represent the Transfer Student body. Vote Amadeusz Sanchez for Transfer Student Representative!
