Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh।

My name is Livreet Kaur, and I’m very excited to be running to be your next Transfer Student Representative. I’m a third year transfer student majoring in Political Science.

As a transfer student, I know how overwhelming it can feel to come into a new campus and have to figure everything out at once. You’re adjusting academically and socially, while also trying to find community and belonging. That experience is a big part of why I’m running.

I’m running on the VIVA slate, a team rooted in advocacy, access, and community. To me, that means making sure students feel supported not just in words, but in their everyday lives. I want transfer students to feel like they have someone in the room who genuinely understands their experiences.

At my community college I was heavily involved in our student government to make real change happen. Currently I serve as a board member in both Sikh Collegiate Federation and Punjabi Club, spaces that have deepened my commitment to building community and creating spaces where people feel seen. I also served as an Interim Senator in ASUCD, which showed me how important it’s to have representatives who listen, follow through, and advocate intentionally.

As your TSR, I want to focus on three things:

First, I want to make the transfer transition feel less overwhelming. So many transfer students come in already trying to catch up, whether that means understanding resources, meeting people, or learning how to navigate a university this large. I want to push for stronger coordination between ASUCD and the Transfer and Reentry Center, clearer academic guides by major, and stronger peer mentorship so students aren’t left figuring everything out on their own. I also want transfer students to have more visibility into research, internships, and faculty access earlier on.

Second, I want to push for resources that make student life more manageable and less stressful. I want to advocate for reducing out of classroom costs where we can, better transit access, and stronger awareness of resources students may not even realize are available. I’d also love to explore low or no cost access to necessities like laundry supplies, hygiene products, and academic materials through stronger ASUCD outreach and partnerships.

Third, I want transfer students to feel represented and fully included in campus life. Transfer students bring so much to UC Davis, but too often their voices and experiences can be overlooked. I don’t want transfer students to be treated like an afterthought, but as an important part of this campus community. That means more transfer centered social and academic events, stronger collaboration with identity based RSOs, transfer focused town halls, more culturally responsive programming, and more community centered events that give people spaces to connect.

I’m running because I care about advocacy, community, and making people feel seen. I want to help build a campus where transfer students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to take up space.
