What's up Aggs! Our names are Luis Garcia and Rosalinda Martinez and we’re running to be your next ASUCD President and Internal Vice-President. We are both third years, who come from first-generation and immigrant households, stories that reflect the lives of many of our students. Luis is double majoring in Political Science and Chicanx Studies, and Rosalinda is majoring Sociology-Organizational Studies with minors in Community Development and Public Health.

We are running on the motto “Breaking Barriers, Building Opportunity" because we believe every student should have equitable access to succeeding on an off campus.

We have the results and framework that will help students with accessible grants, better housing, basic need resources, and a way to increase campus safety while ensuring that we continue increasing engagement through intentional collaboration with organizations and centers which would allow us to assist them with funding.

Luis served as a Senator for two terms, while serving as President Pro Tempore of the Senate Table, while Rosalinda has served as the Undocuscholar Advocacy and Aid Committee Chairperson, Senate Staffer, and now a Senator.

In those roles we not only accomplished our goals, but advocated for our most vulnerable students. We increased funding for international and undocumented student fellowships, increased student emergency grants, ensured emergency housing for students continues, and approved over $30,000 that went directly to clubs and cultural events.

Once elected we aim to accomplish the following:

- We will advocate for basic needs. Streamline $70,000 of grants for emergency housing/need based grants, making them more accessible year round. We will increase student Mental Health support and counseling. All while ensuring all our students have access to our campus resources.

- We will create dozens of internships through ASUCD.

- We will ensure students know what is happening by increasing visibility and longevity, through effective communication methods and expanding events students can take advantage of, such as concerts, resource fairs and banda nights.

- We will ensure all students have a voice, while also increasing student engagement on campus. We will expand cultural presence while providing over $120,000 in grants to support student groups. All while working closely with centers & ethnic departments to increase student engagement and bridge the ASUCD knowledge gap.

- We will expand the ASUCD inclusive fellowship (which provides equitable payment methods to undocumented and international students), and keep administration accountable.

- We will find partnerships with other companies to collaborate and give back to our students. We hope to allow students to get free Linkedin Pro, and get clubs access to Canva Pro for promotion purposes.

- We will also continue efforts put together this year to ensure continuity such as working with student activists to ensure they have the tools to safely speak, supporting commuter students through equitable parking initiatives, and continuing menstrual equity initiatives.

Together WE will build a campus where all students move forward together and where action isn't just promised, it's delivered.
