As a first-year student at UC Davis, I quickly realized how challenging it can be to navigate such a large campus and the constant flow of information. From locating resources to understanding how to get involved, it’s easy for students—especially first-years and transfers—to feel overwhelmed and disconnected. This experience inspired me to run for Student Senate: I want to ensure that every Aggie knows support, guidance, and opportunity are not just available, but accessible.
If elected, my priorities will focus on creating tangible improvements that directly impact students’ daily lives:
Improved Communication and Accessibility: Too often, important announcements, resources, or opportunities get lost in the shuffle. I will advocate for the development of clear, student-friendly platforms that connect students with faculty, staff, and essential resources. This includes streamlining information about academic guidance, campus programs, and support services so that every student can navigate their UC Davis experience with confidence.
Affordability and Opportunity: Financial challenges shouldn’t hinder a student’s ability to thrive. I aim to expand on-campus employment opportunities and work to raise awareness about scholarships, grants, and financial aid options. By making these opportunities more visible and accessible, we can ease the financial burden that so many students face, allowing everyone to focus on learning and growth.
Reliable Transportation: Campus life should never be limited by transportation challenges. I will collaborate with Unitrans to improve bus schedules and ensure that services are responsive to student needs, making it easier to get to classes, work, and extracurricular activities safely and efficiently.
Mental Health and Community Support: A strong community is essential for student well-being. I will champion initiatives that strengthen peer networks and support systems, ensuring that every student feels connected and valued. This includes programs tailored to first-years, transfers, and underrepresented student groups, so no Aggie feels alone in their journey.
Beyond these priorities, I am committed to fostering an inclusive campus community where every student—regardless of background—feels represented. I am especially passionate about supporting Indian-American students while ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. By cultivating collaboration, communication, and compassion, I hope to make UC Davis not just a place to study, but a community where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.
I am running for Student Senate because I believe that every student deserves a voice, and I want to be that voice. Together, we can create a campus environment that is welcoming, accessible, and empowering for every Aggie.
